General Practice
With a full breadth of education and community involvement experiences, Fritz Knaak, Wayne Holstad  and their team bring nearly 35 years of experience and  understanding in anticipating and meeting the legal needs that private citizens and  small business have in these admittedly very difficult times. Fritz, Wayne and their colleagues know and understand his clients and know and understand the law, whether it be dealing with problems with criminal charges, family difficulties or estate planning, will drafting and managing a late family members estate carefully and successfully.  You can be sure that you needs will be met promptly and competently in a way that is sensitive to what it is you are going through.
Real Estate
Wayne Holstad and Fritz Knaak have a national practice representing title insurance companies and agencies on a wide variety of matters.  They have tried cases and represented parties literally from coast to coast, and Arizona to the North Shore of Lake Superior.  Whether it is simple advice on a residential real estate transaction or mortgage foreclosure, to a complex dispute involving closing negligence and agency malfeasance, he has the range of experience and understanding a client will need, with the advantage of service and attention to detail afforded by a smaller, boutique practice.
Municipal Law
For over 30 years, Fritz Knaak has been representing cities, school districts and other public bodies in Minnesota.  Parallel with that experience has been representing private individuals and companies as they work with (and, sometimes, against) local units of government in their efforts to get things done.  Fritz also is licensed in Wisconsin and Colorado  and deals with these same issues frequently in those venues
Election Law
Nationally recognized for his work on the recount after the election of former Senator Norm Coleman in 2008, Fritz Knaak has had decades of experience in the area of election law.  He has represented the Minnesota Secretary of State on redistricting issues, as well as numerous candidates both during campaigns for compliance assurance, and post-election disputes.  He has represented individuals in unfair campaign practice disputes in Minnesota, as well as local recounts under Minnesota law.

Fritz Knaak and Wayne Holstad  have more than 34 years of litigating for clients in courts across the United States.  Licensed in Wisconsin, Colorado and Minnesota, Fritz has tried cases in all three of those states and argued in their appellate courts to successful conclusions.   He has represented clients in other states, such as Maryland and Arizona, as well.  In addition to Minnesota, Wayne is license in Massachusetts and the Federal Court of Claims.

Fritz is very well known for his knowledge of election law, title insurance agency law and municipal law.  He is frequently called on to teach other lawyers in these areas.  He has served as an expert in the area of real estate and construction law, as well as Italian law, for other lawyers.

Criminal Law
Fritz Knaak has prosecuted misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor cases for over 30 years as a city attorney.  He has defended individuals on a variety of criminal matters in state and federal courts.  His private practice in criminal cases focuses primarily on felony financial cases, serious driving cases involving death or injury, or other felonies.
